Types-of-cricket

The Wakehurst Redbacks Cricket Club plays cricket in the Manly-Warringah Junior Cricket Associationand the Manly-Warringah Cricket Association (seniors).

Junior cricket is played on Saturday mornings with some age groups likely to be played in the afternoon.  Senior cricket is played in the afternoons. Older juniors are also welcome to play in the senior competition in the afternoons if they would like to test their skills against older players.

Suits: Girls under 11 with some experience.

Type:  Semi-hard ball (rookie), real bats, pads, etc. 7 players per side, 6 balls max per over, 16m pitch, 30 m boundary, batter faces 17 deliveries, loss of wicket is 4 runs to bowling team, all players bowl at least 1 over, max of 4 overs each. Played on astro-turf.

Suits: Kids under 10 with some cricket experience

When: Likely to be Saturday afternoon 1 pm start 3 hrs  Various grounds around Manly Warringah.

Competition starts 8 September

Type: 142 g ball, 30 over games, 6 balls per over (max 8 except last over), 18 m pitch traditional cricket – out you are out. 9 players a side. 35 m boundary.  All players to bowl (wicket keeper to bowl 1 over each). Played on astro-turf cricket pitches.

Under 13

Traditional MWJCA rules

(div 1 and div 2) 

When: Saturday morning 2-4 hrs . Various grounds around Manly Warringah.

Competition starts 8 September

Type: 156 g ball, 20 m pitch traditional cricket. 40 m boundary Played on astro-turf. Division 1 will play 2 day and 1 day games.  Division 2 expected to play 1 day and T20’s

Under 14
