Safety First: Why Public Access is Restricted During Cricket Matches
The Wakehurst Redbacks Cricket Club and Northern Beaches Council prioritize the safety of both players, spectators and members of the public during cricket Matches & Training sessions.
To do this we are restricting public access to Lionel Watts field during Matches & Training times.
Safety Barrier
The fence surrounding Lionel Watts Synthetic Fields 3, 4, and 5 serves as a crucial safety barrier. It creates a necessary separation between the playing area and spectator zones. No members of the public are allowed in this area during Matches & Training sessions.
Injury Prevention
Cricket balls can travel at high speeds and pose a significant risk of injury to unsuspecting bystanders. Restricting access to the field minimizes the chance of accidental injuries.
Player Focus
Keeping the field clear allows players to concentrate on the game without worrying about collisions or interruptions from non-participants.
Compliance with Regulations
Both the local council and Cricket NSW have established rules regarding field usage and safety zones. The club must adhere to these regulations to maintain their booking privileges and insurance coverage.
Spectator Areas
Designated viewing areas outside the fence provide a safe space for spectators to enjoy the match without compromising safety or interfering with play.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone at Lionel Watts Reserve. Please enjoy the match from the designated spectator areas beyond the fence.
